Our Visit to SILMO Paris 2024

From September 20 to 23, 2024, we had the opportunity to visit SILMO Paris, one of the world’s most prestigious optical fairs, held at Paris Nord Villepinte. The fair brought together visionaries from across the globe — independent designers, established brands, materials experts, and creative minds — all celebrating the evolving world of eyewear.

As newcomers in the handmade eyewear space, we walked the halls of SILMO not only to observe trends but to engage deeply with the roots of eyewear design. Among the most striking themes was a return to purity — clean lines, honest materials, and silhouettes that continue to speak across decades. We were especially drawn to classic frame designs that have quietly endured, reminding us that elegance is less about reinvention and more about refinement.

While browsing materials and components, we came across thoughtful innovations — not in the form of flashy additions, but in subtle, clever details: lightweight metals, naturally textured acetates, and sustainable solutions for packaging. These moments echoed our own values and reassured us that luxury doesn’t demand extravagance — it asks for integrity. True beauty, we were reminded, lies in the combination of restraint, authenticity, and outstanding materials.

In several exhibition corners, we encountered Japanese makers whose philosophy aligns closely with ours at KOHA. Precision, patience, and pride are embedded in every hinge, every angle, every polished edge. Conversations with artisans from Fukui, the historical heart of Japanese eyewear, reminded us of why we chose Japan as our manufacturing partner. There, craftsmanship is a quiet devotion — not driven by mass production but by mastery.

This encounter was more than inspiring; it was affirming. It made clear that the future of eyewear lies not just in aesthetics or innovation, but in preserving techniques that honor the hand and the material.

At KOHA, we will continue to build on this foundation: combining the quiet strength of Albanian heritage with the precision and artistry of Japanese craftsmanship. Each pair of glasses is not just an accessory — it is a story shaped by history, culture, and care.

We look forward to sharing some of these inspirations in our upcoming collections, where each detail reflects our commitment to quality, clarity, and character.
